As a kid, I never would have thought that I’d wind up doing massage for so many years! I was an intellectual and I thought that being a librarian would be a good fit. Due to life experiences, I was introduced to the world of massage and, after doing a degree in English Literature and Philosophy at the University of Victoria, I decided to get trained at Sutherland-Chan in Toronto.
I’ve been thinking recently about the experience of seeing someone who’s been doing something for decades. It results in fine-tuning of the environment – customizing it with light, temperature etc. and also customizing the massage according to each client’s needs for depth of pressure, pace of the massage etc. I like to think that I bring my training in communication and coaching to each session as well. Establishing trust with my clients is very important and I do my best!
I like to think that I offer a more intuitive, almost meditative treatment, which my regulars love. For people who are looking for deep, treatment-oriented massage, what I do probably won’t be a good fit.
